Well, dear readers,
I changed five turntables between 2014 and 2025 (see the dedicated thread about LINK); Pioneer, Thorens, Audio-Technica, Rega and finally my dream - a Technics.
A silver SL-1500c, also know as the home version of the SL-1200.
I had read many good reviews about it, so I decided to buy mine online from a well-known italian hi-fi store. I paid about €960.
However, I had also read some bad reviews about a problem affecting modern Technics turntables -
THIS ONE: 👇
Some people say that platter wobble is a purely aesthetic issue that does NOT affect the sound. That is true, but after a year I finally had enough!
So I decided to contact a Technics service center in Milan (LINK) to report the problem, and this week I repacked the 1500c (😎👉 LINK 👈😎) and sent it in for a service.
A small deal that will probably cost a lot of money… BUT, if my 1500 comes back home repaired and perfectly working, I WILL NEVER CHANGE IT AGAIN!!!! (maybe)
I didn't feel right passing it on to someone else… it would have been a cowardly thing to do.
...stay tuned.
~ Chris ~
