Listened to this week: VISAGE

I listen to music of the 20th century only.
If you read my older posts it's clear I believe.

I listen to swing and jazz from the 40s, Rock 'n' Roll and DooWop from the 50s. Rock, Soul and other experimental generes from the 60s. But I'm especially passionate about music from the 70s and 80s.

My favorite period is from 1977 to 1983: the era of electronic disco, Punk and Post-Punk, Synth-pop, Alterntive, New Wave, Dark Wave, New Romantic and more. The music scene was dominated by bands such as Roxy Music, Kraftwerk, Sex Pistols, Sham 69, DEVO, Blondie, Fad Gadget, Joy Division, New Order, Bauhaus and VISAGE of Steve Strange.

VISAGE :

Steve Strange: lead vocals

Midge Ure: guitar, synthesisers

Rusty Egan: drums, percussion

Billy Currie: keyboards, synthesisers, violin

Dave Formula: keyboards, synthesisers

John McGeoch: guitar, saxophone

Barry Adamson: bass

=============================================

This week, I listened to the first two albums released by Visage, Visage (1980) and The Anvil (1982);
two New Romantic gems, that definitely deserve a place in my Kallax shelf as a fan of the bands above-mentioned!!!!

Now I want to share with you pictures of these two New Romantic albums;

Visage, original LP from 1980, Polydor West German release.

In Visage you can hear punk and gothic-dark influences; a wonderful album from the begninning to the end.
This album contains Fade To Grey, the band's most succesful single which reached  no.1 in West Germany and Switzerland, no.8 in UK and no.6 in Italy.

The Anvil, 2nd album by Visage, original 1982 LP, Polydor UK release with poster!!!

An electronic album with incredible sound that reminds me of Giorgio Moroder's 1977 masterpiece From Here To Eternity

Love it.

By looking at the DiscoGS database, I can see that the next and third Visage album is Beat Boy, from 1984. I can read on Ondarock (italian online music magazine) that Beat Boy it's a rock-oriented album with fewer electronic inflluences, that wasn't a succesful as the earlier ones.
I want to listen to it, and maybe I will buy a copy next.

I hope you enjoyed this post about Visage!

Thanks for reading and see you on sunday.
