A brand new Technics SL-1500C & his issues!

 Good evening! 🟩⬜🟥

This week I've received my new turntable, a Technics SL1500C, silver colour as anticipated;

A wonderful turntable, very good looking and heavy body,
OK!

Now, the problems:

1- poor materials and a slight platter wobbling, but I think (I hope) in tolerance;

2- auto-lift issue:

tonearm have not reached the outer groove but stopped early, many seconds before the end of the last track!!!

H-A-T-E & R-A-G-E!!! 🤬💀

The same problem in my old "Thorens TD-280 MkII"!

This made a strange effect in the machanism of the cue lever, that was jammed and the tonearm didn't want stay down.

Panic!

I tried to do a web research but everywhere I read about only two solutions:

1- resend the turntable to the shop;
2- send the turntable to Technics assistance.

So, I've sent (!) an e-mail to the shop where I purchased the turntable and planned a return.
BUT, before this the dealer gives me a suggestion:

"have you tried to pull down the cue lever until it makes a click?"

ME: "yes, I tried this way, but nothing happened!"

After hours I tried ANOTHER way:

I turned off the "Auto-lift" option and tried to pull down the cue lever strongly and "CLICK"!! The mechanism was released and the lever started working as normal!

WoW!!!

So in short, if the cue lever of your Technics SL-1500C is jammed and won't stay down:

Turn off the auto-lift by the extra-small switch in the back of the turntable and pull down strongly the cue lever until it makes a "Click".
The mechanism now works. (maybe)

I'm not a fan of the auto-lift option in a turntable, so in my case there's no problem to mantain it disabled forever.

Last considerations about this turntable:

no, better not!
I don't want get in trouble with "Technics".

Sorry, my english sucks.

WELCOME to my new blog!

My name is Chris and I'm 37 years old, from Italy;
in this blog I want to share my interest in vintage things like typewriters, jukeboxes, retro CARS and obviously my passion: RECORDS!

I've started purchase records in 2014;
today my collection counts more or less 300 pieces among 33 and 45, 12" and 7".
Ok ok, a really modest collection, I know, but I've never bought lots.
I purchase records monthly,

and so here I am!!!

In these days I'm waiting for my brand new turntable:

a fabulous TECHNICS SL-1500C.

Like every things, some people don't appreciate this turntable, and some loves it!
My dream turntable was the SL-1200 MkII, was... because when I saw the 1500 for the first time I fell in love with it:

"an """audiophile""" version of the 1200; a home version of the 1200."

From 2014 to now I had many turntables; I'll show you them in future, with other vintage and weird stuff that I own.

BEST REGARDS AND...

...sorry for my english.
