New arrivals of the week!

This week, two albums have been added to my collection, respectively:

1- "One Night Of Sin" by Joe Cocker, original Italian pressing from May 1989;

I confess I wanted this album on CD, but I noticed that here in Italy there is good availability of vinyl versions in excellent condition and at low cost; I couldn't resist!

Listened to it yesterday afternoon, I must say I liked it from start to end; the album begins with the most beautiful track (in my opinion):

"When The Night Comes".

2- "Picture This" by Huey Lewis & The News, original US pressing from 1982;
I am also a fan of Huey Lewis:

this is the third album of the band added to my personal collection.

Original clear plastic and anti-static "Chrysalis" inner sleeve:

The covers have been cleaned with an effective method which I will make a tutorial about later;
as for the records, only a light pass with a carbon fiber brush and nothing else.
I'm starting to feel the need for an ultrasonic record cleaning machine, like a "Humminguru"... at the moment I have two "Knosti", which I find effective but inconvenient to use!

I plan to get one "Humminguru" by the end of 2025... 😏

Hope you enjoyed my new arrivals!

Bauhaus, official topic!

 BAUHAUS

My favourite band.
No other words are needed.

Bauhaus are:

Peter Murphy: vocals
Daniel Ash: guitar
David J: bass
Kevin Haskins: drums

In this topic I'll show you my personal collection about this band from Northampton, England; probably the most famous dark-wave band from early '80s.
Surely my favourite!!!!!

In my collection I have not only Lp's or 45's, but other material; I will update this topic with pics about.

I own first four albums, the four released in early '80s:

1- "In The Flat Field", original first UK release from 1980;

2- "Mask", original first UK release from 1981;

3- "The Sky's Gone Out", original first UK release from 1982;

4- "Burning From The Inside", last album and obviously first UK release from 1983.

"Burning From The Inside" is not the last album of the band. Last official album seems to be "Go Away White" from 2008, but generally I'm not interested in music production from the end of the '90s till today, because I like NOTHING of this era, a black screen, in my own opinion.

I started listening Bauhaus in 2007, when I was 20; I had the famous CD copilation from 1986 called "Bauhaus - 1979-1983" volume 1 and 2... and finally in 2014 I started collecting original 33 rpm's above mentioned.

So,

I will start and move forward in chronological order, showing you my copy of "In The Flat Field", original 1980 4AD UK release:

I will update "Bauhaus" topic nextly, with pics of other records and material that I collected in the years.

Stay tuned!

1983 SEIKO SQ 100

 A wish come true!

I've been wanting an 80's octagonal watch for a long time; in this post you can see my '83 Seiko SQ-100, inherited from my grandfather at the beginning of 2025.

Unfortunately a very old battery was inside and produced acid in little quantity; watch-repairer here in my town opened the watch, cleaned and lubricated the mechanism and made the Seiko perfectly working!
Overall watch is a little bit worn, glass has many scratches, same for the steel.

Watch-repairer told me the story of the SQ 100 movement:

at the time, 80's, Seiko watches that mounted SQ 100 movements were excellent and expensive watches, thought for ""extreme"" situations and for the sports in particular; Water Resistant obvuiosly.

Now in 2025, after 42 years, internal gasket is probably dried and consequentially keeping the watch far from water is a good idea!

Some ugly pics of the watch:

A very elegant/stylish and thin watch;  a pearl from the 80's!

~ New musical arrivals next week, stay tuned! ~

My record "collection"...

I'm not a collector, but only a guy that love listen music in vinyl way.

I love every aspects of this format, large sleeves in particular, most of these are work of art.

First record of my life was a worn '74 Elvis Presley compilation, french release, titled "Elvis Forever"; a gift from a friend. The official number 1 in my records register!

But, first record I bought in early 2012 on eBay, was a 7", an Italo-Disco titled "Flexxy Ball" by Flexx... (!!!), this:

Afterwards, in 2014, I discovered DiscoGS; so I registered my account and started buy records seriously.

Now, in May 2025, I collected 216 pieces in my "Kallax";

I know what you are thinking:

FEW!!! 😡

Yes, you are right, but consider that I never bought lots and I pick only albums or singles that I'm really interested in; sometimes I bought releases of a specific nationality, english in particular.

Consider another aspect: prices are increasing, and shipping costs are a swindle, from UK or USA in particular!!

So, I think I'll continue buy records until the last Kallax block will be filled; and after?
I don't know!!

See you on sunday!
